While running the sales and business development at Miva, I was involved in the marketing of my vacation rentals in San Diego. In 1996 as the Internet began to grow it became an important sales channel for vacation rentals. I began taking online reservations for my vacation rentals using a modified version of Miva Merchant, the popular shopping cart developed by Miva. Combined with aggressive online marketing, it was incredibly successful and allowed me to generate more bookings and higher occupancy than ever before. Over the years vacation rental owners and property managers kept asking me to develop a system for their sites.
After FindWhat made its offer to purchase Miva, I took some time off to think about what I was going to do next. I started researching the vacation rental market and found that many vacation rental owners didn't have a website, few accepted credit cards, and virtually none had an online reservation system.
At that point I decided it would be fun to combine my experience at Miva working with web hosting companies and merchant account providers to offer an integrated e-commerce reservation system for the emerging online vacation rental market.
